보도 사진, 기록 사진 등 르포적이고 공적인 이미지부터 일상적인 스냅샷, 기념 사진, 실수로 찍힌 사진 등 사적 이미지에 이르기까지 현실의 찰나를 담은 이미지들을 고의적으로 훼손하고 중첩하는 등의 가공은 보는 이로 하여금 만든 이가 대상을 어떻게 해석하고 배치하는지 확신할 수 없게 한다. 이러한 이미지의 가공은 ‘절대 3차원이 될 수 없는 2차원 이미지’의 공간을 확장하고, 시간에 대한 정보를 담지 않으면서 시간성을 포함한다. 때로 의도치 않게 특정한 부분을 가리거나 동시에 또다른 부분을 부각시킴으로써 의미의 확장을 꾀하기도 한다.

‘누구나 비밀은 있잖아요’는 2016년부터 이어진 이미지 가공 실험의 연장으로서, 내외부적 요인에 따라 왜곡되고 변형되는 사적 기억∙공적 기록의 관계와 성질을 한 장의 이미지에 섞어 표현한 연작 시리즈이다.

From reportage and public images such as press photos and documentary photography to personal snapshots, commemorative pictures, and accidental captures, the deliberate distortion and layering of these fleeting moments of reality make it impossible for viewers to be certain of how the creator interprets and arranges the subject. This manipulation of images expands the space of the "inherently two-dimensional images that can never become three-dimensional," incorporating temporality without directly conveying information about time. By unintentionally obscuring certain parts while simultaneously highlighting others, this process often seeks to expand the range of meanings.

"Everyone Has Secrets, Don’t They?" is an extension of an ongoing experiment in image manipulation that began in 2016. It is a series that blends the relationship and nature of private memories and public records—distorted and transformed by internal and external factors—into single composite images.
