	대한민국, 서울.성균관대학교에서 써피스디자인과 미술을 공부했다.인쇄물이나 스크린 상의 2차원 이미지와 텍스트를 아카이빙하고, 이를 재료로 디지털 시각화 도구를 이용해 ‘아무것’ 혹은 ‘아무것도 아닌 어떤 것’에 위치한 기록들을 미디어 아트・디자인의 형태로 직조한다. 텍스트와 이미지의 정치성, 점・선・면의 배열이 만들어내는 구조의 엄정한 규칙성, 이미지의 비인과적 가공・훼손・오류가 드러내는 의미와 미학, 그리고 그것들을 가능케 하는 디지털 미디어의 가소성과 탄력성에 관심이 있다.
	Based in Seoul, South Korea. Studied Surface Design and Fine Arts at Sungkyunkwan University.The practice involves archiving two-dimensional images and text from printed materials or screens and weaving them into forms of media art and design using digital visualization tools. These works explore records situated in the realm of something-anything-and nothing. Key interests include the politics of text and image, the strict regularity of structures created by the arrangement of points, lines, and planes, the meanings and aesthetics revealed through the non-causal manipulation, distortion, or errors in images, and the malleability and flexibility of digital media that make these processes possible.

	Project W-axis는 프로젝션을 통해 공간의 구조와 인지 방식을 변형하는 시각 작업이다. 벽과 바닥에 투사된 이미지는 화면의 경계를 넘어 공간의 지각을 재구성하며, 미생물의 증식 방식을 참조한 비주얼은 공간을 점유하고 확산되는 또 하나의 층위를 형성한다. 프로젝션을 매개로 형성되는 이 시각적 구조는 공간과 이미지 사이의 경계를 흐리며, 지각의 조건 자체를 질문한다.
	Project W-axis is a visual work that transforms spatial structure and perception through projection. Images cast onto walls and floors reconstruct space beyond the boundaries of the screen, while visuals referencing microbial proliferation form another layer that occupies and spreads within the space. Mediated by projection, this visual structure blurs the boundary between space and image, questioning the very conditions of perception.

	국제갤러리 부산점의 전시장은 블루스 음악의 각 파트를 연주하는 다섯 음악가들을 중심으로 꾸려지는데, 이들은 각각의 사연을 품은 느슨한 합주를 이어간다. 연주자들은 다채로운 색상의 다각형 구조체로 구획된 공간의 곳곳에 자리하며 마주 보고 있는 영상, 사진, 조각에 상호 응답한다. 시각 이미지와 음악, 목소리, 억양, 소음 등 청각적 요소의 병치에 관심을 가져온 작가는 이번 전시에서 가시화되지 않지만 귀로 듣고 피부로 느낄 수 있는 삶의 역동과 생기를 음악, 특히 블루스를 통해 직접적으로 제시한다. 19세기 중엽 미국 남부의 아프리카계 흑인들이 힘겨운 현실을 특유의 리듬과 가사로 풀어낸 이 장르에서 그는 설명되지 않는 상황과 피치 못할 난관을 통과하는 자조적이면서도 유쾌한 상상의 방식을 발견한다.음악의 울림을 통해 표현되는 삶의 태도에 공감하며, 작가는 작곡가 레이 설(Ray Soul)의 가이드라인에 따라 블루스의 12마디 구조와 악기 편성을 차용한 〈피치 못할 블루스〉(2025)를 만든다. 그는 다른 장소, 다른 배경의 연주자들에게 67 BPM의 느린 속도와 간단한 코드만을 제공하여 각자의 자유로운 해석에 기반한 연주를 요청한 뒤, 개별 곡조의 가닥을 자르고 쌓아 이를 하나의 협연으로 조율한다. 그리하여 생을 살아내는 개개인의 리드미컬한 몸짓은 전시장에서 콘트라베이스, 보컬, 색소폰, 오르간, 드럼 소리로 변환되어 한 편의 비동시적인 협주로 공명한다.
	The exhibition space unfolds in five distinct yet interconnected conversations, each centered on a performer engaging with the specific material rhythms of their immediate surroundings. Each of these conversations is centered around one of five musicians, arranged in the interior space divided into polygonal structures of various colors. They are simultaneously playing different parts of blues music, each corresponding to the adjacent video, photography, and sculptures installed across from them and conveying their own story within the loose ensemble. Jung’s ongoing interest in the juxtaposition of visual images and sonic elements such as music, voice, intonation, and noise powerfully frame his philosophy about the invisible dynamism and vibrancy of life, which is made tangible through music. In particular, by focusing on blues music, Jung is able to tap into a farcical and boisterous imagination expressed in this genre and elaborate on a musical way of enduring inexplicable circumstances and inevitable difficulties. Rooted in the experiences of African Americans of the Deep South in the mid-nineteenth century following the Civil War, blues developed its distinctive rhythm and lyrics in response to the challenges of a harsh and unforgiving reality.In resonance with the spirit of life expressed in blues, Jung has created Inevitable Blues (2025), which borrows the twelve-bar structure and instrumental composition of the genre. With simple guidelines made by Ray Soul, Jung provided a tempo of 67 BPM and a set of musical chord progressions and asked different musicians to come up with numerous variations within the structure. He then assembled their individual performances into a single composition, cutting and layering each part to form a unified yet polyphonic whole. The result is a sonic manifestation of life’s rhythmic gestures, voiced in the sounds of contrabass, vocal, saxophone, organ, and drums, that altogether resonate as a piece of asynchronous symphony.

국립대한민국임시정부기념관 특별전 《꿈갓흔 옛날 피압흔 니야기》, 2024.Exhibition of National Memorial of the Korean Provisional Government, A Dreamlike Old Sad Story, 2024.

	《꿈갓흔 옛날 피압흔 니야기》는 대한민국 임시정부 수립 105주년을 기념하여 국립대한민국임시정부기념관이 기획한 전시로, 임시정부 인물 50여 명이 남긴 회고록을 통해 그들의 기억을 인간의 감정—두려움, 분노, 즐거움, 고달픔과 슬픔, 그리고 희망—의 관점에서 살펴본다.
이 전시에서는 포토그램 기법*에서 나타나는 시각적 특성을 차용하여 미디어 아트로 재해석했다. 시간의 흔적을 담은 사물의 이미지를 통해 개인의 기억을 시각적 형태로 표현하고, 사물에 깃든 기억과 시간의 흐름, 전쟁의 고통, 그리고 개인의 삶을 담아내며, 감정과 역사가 교차하는 새로운 내러티브를 제시한다.

*포토그램 기법: 카메라를 사용하지 않고 감광지 위에 물체를 배치한 뒤 빛을 비춰 음영을 만드는 기법으로, 빛에 노출되는 시간이 길어질수록 강한 이미지로 현상되는 특징을 가진다.
	A Dreamlike Old Sad Story is an exhibition organized by the National Memorial Museum of the Provisional Government of Korea to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Provisional Government. Through memoirs left by over 50 individuals from the Provisional Government, the exhibition explores their memories from the perspective of human emotions—fear, anger, joy, hardship, sorrow, and hope.

The exhibition reinterprets the visual characteristics of the photogram technique* through media art. By utilizing the imagery of objects bearing traces of time, it visualizes individual memories, capturing the essence of objects, the passage of time, the pain of war, and personal lives. This creates a new narrative where emotions and history intersect.

*Photogram technique: A method of creating images without a camera by placing objects directly on photosensitive paper and exposing it to light, resulting in shadows. The longer the exposure, the stronger the resulting image.

MMCA 현대차시리즈 2023 《정연두: 백년 여행기》MMCA Hyundai Motor Series 2023⎯JungYeondoo: One Hundred Years of Travels

	이번 «MMCA 현대차 시리즈 2023: 정연두‒백년 여행기»에서 작가가 주목한 서사는 20세기 초 멕시코로 건너간 한인 디아스포라이다. 전시명인 ‘백년 여행기’는 인천 제물포항을 떠나 40여 일의 항해 끝에 멕시코 유카탄 주의 수도 메리다에 도착했던 백여 년 전의 한인 이주기를 의미한다. ‘역사’로서의 백 년 전 이주기에 대한 작가의 관심은 멕시코에서는 노팔 선인장으로 알려져 있고, 한국에서는 백년초라고 불리는 식물의 ‘설화’적 여행기에서 출발했다. 멕시코에서 태평양을 건너와 제주도에 뿌리내렸다고 전해져 내려오는 백년초 이동 설화에서 작가는 한국과 멕시코를 잇는 식물 및 사람의 백년 여행기라는 소재를 떠올리게 되었다. 이때 식물의 ‘이식’은 뿌리가 뽑혀 다른 시공간으로 이동한 한인들의 ‘이주’와 접속한다. 그리고 이는 제국, 식민, 노동, 역사를 둘러싼 기존의 이주 서사 이외의 제3의 이야기를 열어주는 통로가 된다.

4점의 신작을 포함하여 총 5점의 영상, 설치, 사운드 작품을 선보이는 이번 전시는 시공간을 초월하여 서로 무관해 보이는 존재를 연결하는 가능성의 영역으로 ‘이주와 이국성’의 주제에 다가간다. 나아가 전시는 이질성과 친숙함의 관계, 탈구된 시공간 경험에 대한 상상, 이주를 둘러싼 세대 간의 문화적·역사적 간극, 그리고 경계를 넘나들며 이동하고 번역되는 존재 등에 대해 생각해보기를 권유한다.
	The narrative that Jung focuses on in MMCA Hyundai Motor Series 2023: Jung Yeondoo–One Hundred Years of Travels is the Korean diaspora to Mexico in the early 20th century. The “one hundred years of travels” in the title refers to the migration over a century ago by Koreans who left the port of Jemulpo in Incheon for an ocean journey lasting over 40 days before arriving in Mérida, the capital of the Mexican state of Yucatán. The artist’s interest in this migration history from 100 years ago originated from the “mythic” travels of the prickly pear cactus. Taking the migration tale of how prickly pear seeds from Mexico crossed the Pacific Ocean to set down roots on Jeju Island in Korea, Jung carried the idea of a hundred-year journey of plants and people connecting Korea and Mexico. Here, a connection is drawn between the “transplantation” of the prickly pear cactus and the diaspora of Koreans uprooted to a different time and place. And, it becomes a channel opening up a third story beyond the existing migration narrative associated with imperialism, colonialism, labor, and history.

This exhibition, featuring a total of 5 video, installation, and sound works, including four new works which are exhibited for the first time, approaches the theme of ‘relocation and foreignness’ as a realm of possibility that connects seemingly unrelated beings transcending time and space. Furthermore, the exhibition invites the viewer to think about the relationship between difference and familiarity, the imagined experiences of temporal and spatial dislocation, the cultural and historical generation gaps associated with migration, and the individuals who are “translated” across boundaries.
